Bob Moore Subaru Celebrates World Gorilla Day

What could be better than spending the day at the Oklahoma City Zoo with your favorite local Subaru dealership, Bob Moore Subaru? What sounds like a dream event came true for many residents and their children in Oklahoma City to celebrate World Gorilla Day. Bob Moore Subaru took the time and resources to help the Oklahoma Zoo educate our local population about gorillas. The Zoo provided interactive opportunities to learn about gorillas, their history, anatomy, environment, and more. The Zoo also hosted a phone recycling drive to help conserve resources that harm the natural environment of Gorillas. Along with the fun that comes with enjoying the Oklahoma City Zoo, Bob Moore Subaru once again takes advantage of any opportunity to promote the Subaru Love Promise among residents of Moore, Norman, Edmond, and Oklahoma City.

World Gorilla Day

World Gorilla Day began as an initiative with the World Wildlife Fund that has spread to a ton of different organizations to help raise awareness about conservation of gorilla populations around the world. For the Oklahoma City Zoo and Bob Moore Subaru, the day was a ton of fun for Zoo patrons with all the fun games and events that were held with the Gorilla exhibit nearby. Guests enjoyed a photobooth, a nose-matching game, comparing handprints to gorillas, and so much more presented by Bob Moore Subaru.

Recycling Phones to Save Gorillas

The homes of many wild Gorillas are in danger due to resource mining of valuable minerals that are found commonly in modern mobile phones. A material called coltan is often used in cell phone engineering, and the mining involved is greatly disrupting the natural habitats of gorillas and many other endangered species. For World Gorilla Day, the Oklahoma City Zoo hosted a phone recycling program, where participants could turn in their old mobile phones for the reuse and recycling of the materials inside them to reduce the need for mining. Each person who donated a device received a free admission for an entire day at the Zoo.

The Oklahoma City Zoo

The Oklahoma City Zoo is a 119-acre park that is currently home to over 1900 animals across multiple species. The Zoo is located in Oklahoma City's adventure district adjacent to a science museum, Casino, and so much more, so it's easy to fill an entire day with fun, local activities. The Zoo itself hosts a variety of events, as well as is a participant in conservation and preservation efforts to help keep wild animals safe with well-maintained natural habitats.
