2026 Subaru Outback Coming Soon to Bob Moore Subaru

The Outback has long been one of Subaru’s most recognizable silhouettes, rocking a station wagon design that’s all but disappeared from the road today. 2026 marks a major shift in the Outback’s history, as it enters a new generation with a complete redesign. The new Subaru Outback adopts a boxier roofline, replacing the sloping one in favor of increased interior space for both passengers and cargo. The redesign elevates the Outback from the station wagon class to a more mid-size SUV. Aside from the obvious exterior changes, the Outback modernizes its cabin, giving it a more contemporary feel with new styling and technology. While we’re sad to see the loss of the most iconic station wagon on the road, the updated Outback promises to be bigger, more technologically advanced, and more comfortable than ever before. Of course, it hasn’t lost the classic Subaru staples, including AWD and a robust safety system. While we’re still gathering details on the 2026 Outback, we’ll share all the information available. 2026 Outback Engine and Performance

Plenty changes in the new Subaru Outback, but what’s under the hood stays largely the same. The classic 2.5-liter Boxer engine remains under the hood of most Outbacks, producing 180 horsepower. XT and Wilderness models get a punchier turbocharged 2.4-liter, which pumps out 260 horses. Both continue to pair with a Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission (CVT). The Outback remains a dependable light-duty off-road companion, boasting 8.7 inches of ground clearance and selectable drive modes, including Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud. We’re still waiting for confirmed MPG ratings, but with the same engines as the outgoing generation, we expect the 2026 Outback to be very similar to the old model. Subaru Outback Trim Levels and Features

The Outback should be more spacious than the outgoing model, with reports indicating that rear storage has increased from 33 cubic feet to 35. We’re still waiting for Subaru to release confirmed figures for max cargo volume. While MSRPs have not been confirmed, we would expect the general range to fall between $35,000 to $50,000. The three entry-level trims all come with the base Boxer engine, while the upper three trims all feature the more potent powertrain. We don’t know what trim levels will have what features yet, but we can speculate. The Wilderness carries over from the previous generation to the new one, and is known for offering a plethora of outdoor-focused features, including an anti-glare hood decal, beefy cladding around the wheels, and the bottom of the Outback, water-resistant upholstery, and plenty of other off-road spec-ed features. New Subaru Outback Technology

The interior is a major part of the Outback’s update, as it adds technology throughout the cabin. A 12.1-inch infotainment display is firmly planted in the center of the dash, powered by a new processor that makes it quicker and much more customizable. A new quick toggle display also enables easier access to music, phone, and navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, as does a voice recognition system. As you’d expect, the Outback is equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assistance suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and lane-keeping. A new feature includes driver-supported hands-free driving on highways, with a speed limit of up to 85 mph.
