Making Tracks at the Oklahoma City Zoo with Bob Moore Subaru

At Bob Moore Subaru, we’re always looking for ways to give back to our community. We aim to live up to the Subaru Love Promise, showing love and respect to all people through every interaction. That goes beyond our Subaru dealership as we continue to find ways to make Oklahoma City a better place to live. In the Fall of 2024, we started the Making Tracks program in collaboration with the OKC Zoo. Making Tracks helps elementary school students make lasting memories at the zoo through learning experiences and encounters with all the animals. This program emphasizes learning in and out of the classroom as students begin to learn about animals and the environment. We believe real-world experiences and classroom learning help our kids maximize their learning opportunities. We’re expanding the program in 2025, intending to include kids from around the state. If you’re a parent or teacher who’d like to learn more about how we can get you to the OKC Zoo, contact Bob Moore Subaru OKC!

About the Making Tracks Program
Making Tracks started in the Fall of 2024 as a collaboration between Bob Moore Subaru and the Oklahoma City Zoo. The program is geared toward students in the third grade, as that’s when the Oklahoma curriculum begins to educate them on biology and ecology. Making Tracks starts in the classroom, as students work together on an animal research project before they head to the zoo. During the zoo visit, students will get a guided field trip from the staff at the zoo while they make observations and finish their workbooks. After the visit, the curriculum is loaded with post-trip projects that help them contextualize their visit. Beyond being a great learning experience, students love going to the zoo to see animals they’ve never seen or heard of!

Students Served by the OKC Zoo
In less than a year of operation, we’ve served 1,359 students across many different classrooms while raising nearly $500,000 in endowments to fund the project, almost half of our $1 Million five-year pilot goal. For 2025, we’ve already scheduled over 1,000 more students, with more bookings anticipated throughout the year. In the Fall of 2025, we’re expanding the program to classrooms beyond the OKC metro area, offering a virtual option that allows all 3rd graders in the state to visit the Zoo, from Tulsa to the Panhandle.
