2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Release Date and Details

2026 sees the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid return in its third iteration. We’ve seen a hybrid Crosstrek before, both from 2014 to 2016 and from 2019 to 2023. To take a step forward, the Crosstrek Hybrid had to take a couple of steps backward. This time, we think the fuel-friendly Crosstrek is here to stay. Previous iterations have struggled providing value and horsepower, resulting in Subaru taking them back to the drawing board. When the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid returns for the Fall of 2025, it’ll offer horsepower on par with the rest of Subaru’s lineup, with a fuel-efficient hybrid engine that excels on and off the road. While details are cloudy until the official release, we’ll run you through everything we know about the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, coming soon to Bob Moore Subaru. 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Powertrain and Fuel Economy

Subaru equips the Crosstrek Hybrid with a 2.5-liter boxer engine and a couple of electric motors. It will generate 194 horsepower, an increase of 12 from the gas-powered Crosstrek. Both motors and the engine are connected to an eCVT, which offers drive modes such as X-mode for low-traction driving. We don’t have fuel economy metrics for the Subaru hybrid yet, but experts expect it to land around 35 mpg. It will utilize the same 16.6-gallon tank found in the base Crosstrek, providing a driving range of approximately 580 miles. Most AWD hybrids are actually FWD cars with an engine mounted on the rear axle, which can cause a strange driving sensation on low-traction surfaces. Not the Crosstrek Hybrid. It uses a mechanical, symmetrical AWD system, ensuring the AWD platform feels exactly like what you’d expect from a Subaru. 

2026 Crosstrek Hybrid Trim Levels and Interior

Inside, the hybrid Crosstrek is nearly identical to its gas twin. The only difference is the battery in the rear, which reduces your cargo space from 20.0 cubic feet to 18.6 cubic feet. If you fold the rear row down, you’ll still have 54.7 cubic feet of cargo space for your gear. Upon its release this fall, we will see it sport two new colors: Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl. It will debut with the following three trim levels: 

• 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Premium

• 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Sport

• 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Limited

While we don’t have pricing for the hybrids yet, the gas models typically range from about $27,000 to $34,000. We would expect the hybrid Crosstrek to be a few thousand dollars more expensive. 

Trailseeker Technology Features

Subaru has been rather tight-lipped about the features we can expect on the new Trailseeker SUV. Like all Subaru models, it should feature their award-winning EyeSight Driver Assistance platform, which includes a range of helpful features such as emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane keeping. It will also feature a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with navigation and Apple Maps, as well as an 11.6-inch infotainment center with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
