2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid Coming Soon to OKC

The Subaru Forester continues to be one of Subaru’s best sellers, and it’s easy to see why. The two-row, compact SUV is one of the largest in the segment, and could easily be re-classified as a mid-size SUV. It’s long adopted a boxier, more traditional SUV shape than the Outback or Crosstrek, making it one of the most comfortable SUVs for rear seat passengers. As the Forester enters 2027, it adds a new powertrain to the mix, promising extra fuel economy with a hybrid setup. While the hybrid powertrain will be available in multiple trim levels, the Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid announced recently promises to be a best-seller. The Wilderness is already a sought-after trim level, delivering more off-road features than a normal Forester. New Hybrid Subaru Forester Wilderness Fuel Economy

Every version of the hybrid Forester will come equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder powertrain with an electric motor. Output will combine to generate 194 horsepower, funneled through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to Subaru’s AWD platform. It uses a series-parallel hybrid system, allowing the hybrid Forester to switch between the motor and engine as needed. Critics have noted that the hybrid Forester is quieter than the gas-powered one but delivers 14 more horsepower. You can get a Class I trailer hitch on the Forester, but it’s only rated to tow 1,500 lbs. Of course, fuel economy is the star here, and the hybrid Wilderness gets 35 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. For comparison, the base model gets 26 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the open road.

New Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid Features

The hybrid powertrain will be available for multiple Forester trim levels, but the Wilderness promises to be the star of the show. The Forester Wilderness is one of the most fun SUVs in our inventory, largely thanks to its impressive off-road ability. It starts with 9.3 inches of ground clearance, making it ideal for everyday trails, especially when paired with Subaru’s famed AWD platform. Symmetrical AWD is optimized for snow, rain, off-road environments, and more, automatically directing power to the wheels with the most grip. If you misjudge a trail, you’ll find underbody skid plates for extra protection. It also features GEOLANDAR all-terrain tires and 17-inch matte-black wheels, unique to Wilderness models. In case you forget you’re driving a Wilderness Hybrid, you’ll find extra copper badging throughout the frame, with blacked-out elements, a black decal on the hood to protect against glare, and even a signature paint option: Geyser Blue.

2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid Cabin and Technology

Of course, the Forester hybrid’s powertrain remains as comfortable and spacious as ever, a perfect place to spend hours at a time on your next road trip. With rows up, you’ll get 28 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear, with up to 69.1 cubic feet of total cargo volume when you fold the rear row. The Forester Wilderness gets an 11.6-inch touchscreen display and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless smartphone connections like Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto all come standard. You’ll also find a wireless phone charger up front, with various charging ports throughout the cabin. The Forester Hybrid is home to the Subaru EyeSight suite of safety features, getting adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, and plenty more.

2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid Release Date
