IIHS Safety Awards and New Criteria

The IIHS is a nationally recognized, independent non-profit organization that studies ways to reduce deaths and injuries from motor vehicle crashes. Its research extends to collision avoidance and “crashworthiness.” The IIHS tests models from various manufacturers to ensure consumers know how safe their vehicles are. When it recognizes a vehicle that goes above and beyond to protect the passengers, it awards it with awards like the Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick +. This year, one of our vehicles was awarded a Top Safety Pick + award, and three were awarded a Top Safety Pick award. This year, the IIHS changed the standards they use to measure vehicles. New requirements for side impact protection, moderate front overlap tests, and pedestrian crash prevention were instituted. Subaru vehicles excelled, meeting the stricter standards enacted by the IIHS.
